How Channels Work

In Studiio, a channel is a way for listeners to contact your station.

Studiio supports various channels to make communication easier and more effective:

  • SMS/MMS

  • Email

  • Phone Calls

  • Facebook Messenger

  • Instagram Direct

  • WhatsApp

  • Facebook (posts and comments)

  • Instagram (posts and comments)

Each active channel appears in the Communication section of the sidebar, complete with its own inbox. You can select which channels to activate based on your station's needs — there's no requirement to use them all. Most stations start with SMS/MMS and add more as needed.

How Channels Work

Channels and the Listener Database

All communication channels feed into the same listener database. No matter which channel a listener uses, their message is linked to their profile. This ensures a seamless experience and keeps your listener information organized.

Choosing the Right Channel

Each channel has its strengths:

  • SMS/MMS: Best for high-volume, fast interactions like competitions, song requests, and voting.

  • Email: Suitable for longer correspondence with listeners.

  • Phone Calls: Ideal for live on-air interaction.

  • Facebook Messenger, Instagram Direct, and WhatsApp: Reach listeners on platforms they use daily.

  • Facebook and Instagram: Monitor and reply to public posts and comments.

Understanding Your Audience

The dashboard features a Communication Breakdown chart, shown as a donut or pie chart, that displays how many messages came through each channel. This helps you understand where your listeners are most active.

Access and Permissions

Each channel requires appropriate permissions to access. If team members do not have 'view' permission for a channel, they will not see it in their sidebar. Make sure your team members have the right permissions to streamline communication.
