Configuring Routing Rules
Routing rules are configured under Communication > Phone Calls > Routing. When a call arrives on your phone number, Studiio evaluates these rules to decide where to send it.
Endpoint Types
Routing sends the call to one of two endpoint types:
Screener Endpoint: The call lands in the Dashboard Call Screener, where a producer reviews and manages the call before it reaches the presenter.
Studio Endpoint: The call routes directly to the Studio Panel phone block, bypassing the dashboard entirely. The presenter answers it themselves.
The choice depends on your station's setup and staffing.
Fallback Actions
If the endpoint has no connected user or is busy, the fallback action handles the call:
Record a voicemail
Forward to an external number
Play a text-to-speech message
Time-based Routing Rules
Time-based routing rules let you send calls to different endpoints at different times:
Window rules: A one-off date/time range
Recurring rules: Repeating days of the week with optional time windows
Show-based rules: Different routing while a specific show is on air
Screener Prompts
When routing to a Screener Endpoint, configure prompts played to the caller before connecting:
Introduction message
Name prompt
Location prompt
Holding message
Important Notes
For calls to ring at any endpoint, a user must be actively connected to it. For a Screener Endpoint, a producer must have the Screener open in their browser. For a Studio Endpoint, a presenter must have the Studio Panel open. If neither is true, the fallback rules apply.
